It's that time of the year again to start shopping for gifts for your special loved ones! I was looking around everywhere to see what I could get my boyfriend for Christmas, but I have no ideas on what to get him. I found two articles on Blouin Art Info that gives gift ideas on what to get your significant other for the holidays!

#9 New Show Format

Today's fashion designers have been coming up with creative and new ways to present their clothing down the catwalk! Back in the day you could only watch the shows in person or keep up with the press to know what was happening in the fashion world. Now you don't have to be at the fashion show to watch it! Designers are taking advantage of today's technology, like the iPad, to show their collections to the world! Below is a video that shows how Burberry uses an iPad application that allows consumers to watch and purchase products online from exclusive fashion shows.

#8: LF Stores Fall 2012 LookBook!

Below are some pictures from a fall 2012 lookbook I found at the LF stores website:
The lookbook is called "Youth in Revolt", and it features LF fall looks and outfits. The title perfectly matches the style and looks in the pictures. I think LF did a great job in creating this lookbook!

#7: Trunk Shows!

What are Trunk Shows? They are special events where vendors or designers travel, visiting different stores, to show and sell their merchandise. Trunk shows allows designers to build customer base and to actually sell their merchandise, which is great! Here is an article I found about designers using this traditional method to show off their recent collections: "Designers Focus On Trunk Shows"

Below is a Carolina Herrera Spring 2010 Trunk Show. The show was presented at Tiffany's on Fifth Avenue. I loved the show, and gowns; It was truly amazing!

#6: Video Fashion Show!

One of my favorite fashion shows has to be the Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2013 fashion show. I loved everything about it, and I couldn't take my eyes off the show! The theme of the show was Baroque Romanticism. The collection featured detailed, heavily decorated designs, gold embroidery, and floral and arabesque patterns. I also love the head pieces each model wore, along with the accessories! I wish I could have watched it in person!!

#5: Amazing Window Displays in NYC

Last week I did a little shopping near 59th street & Lexington Ave in Manhattan, and there I came across many creative and interesting window displays! Among my favorite were the window displays of Bloomingdale's and H&M.

Below are some pictures I took of the Bloomingdale's windows. Bloomingdale's windows tell a story. Each scene is inspired by ABC series "Once Upon a Time". Each window was so creative, and the mannequins actually moved! These displays really lured me into the store because they were so fun to look at!

I also loved the window displays at H&M. The window displays featured the new H&M accessory collection by Anna Dello Russo. I love how the mannequins were arranged and the use of multi-media. The bright colors really drew me into the store. The accessories were really cute. I just loved everything about it!

#4: Review of NY Times Fashion Blog

I found this NY Times blog entry, called "A Touch of Fetish" by Ruth La Ferla, very interesting. La Ferla uses numerous fashion terms and language in order to describe garments so that it is easy for the reader to picture and imagine them. It was very clear to me what La Ferla was describing, and I didn't need images to help me picture La Ferla's descriptions. Below is an excerpt of "A Touch of Fetish" by Ruth La Ferla:

Some terms Ruth La Ferla uses to describe fashion are:

1. Silhouette/Design:
"Harnessed and corseted looks", "harness dresses", "leather bandeau bra", "a backless leather apron", "banded knee-high boots", "tall, multi-strap gladiators"

2. Details:
"Graphic bands of silk and leather, held together by gossamer threads", "hips draped in chains and legs sheathed in tightly laced bondage pants", "displaying a welter of harnesses and straps every which way"

3. Color:
Black Leather

4. Fabric:
Leather, silk

5. Creative Jargon:
"Urban chic", "butter-wouldn't-melt uptown image", "Injecting their collections with the straps, cuffs, leather bras, and other fetishy touches"
